2012-P Jefferson Nickel Obverse

The 2012 Jefferson Nickel obverse features a portrait of the former President designed by Jamie Franki and engraved by Donna Weaver. This design was introduced in 2006 as the return to Monticello. Although the obverse design was changed, the series of Jefferson Nickels has been issued since 1938. The latest issues have a composition of 75% copper and 25% nickel, oftentimes the metallic value of the coins is greater than the face value.
