2011 American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin Obverse

The obverse design of the 2011 Proof Gold Buffalo is based on the original 1913 Buffalo nickel, Type 1, as designed by James Earle Fraser—features a profile of a Native American. Each coin contains one troy ounce of .9999 fine gold. This latest collector version with the “W” mint mark went on sale May 19, 2011.
