2010 American Gold Buffalo Reverse

The reverse design for the 2010 Gold Buffalo featuring a classic rendition of the American Bison or buffalo. The design was originally used for the circulating nickel series with the design created by James Earle Fraser. According to legend, it was based on the animal Black Diamond at the Central Park Zoo. A proof version of the coin was offered later in the year.
