A fitting scene is presented on the reverse of the Sarah Polk First Spouse Gold Coin. She is shown serving as he husband’s personal secretary while he was President. Sarah Polk was the only First Lady to ever serve in this capacity. The design is by Phebe Hemphill, who also designed the obverse.
