2009 Proof American Silver Eagle Obverse (not issued)

The United States Mint experienced elevated levels of demand for the bullion version of the American Silver Eagle from the second half of 2008 to the present time. This has resulted in the cancellation of the 2009 Proof Silver Eagle to the great disappointment of many collectors. The prospect of future releases remains uncertain as the US Mint struggles with production issues.
