1989 Congress Silver Dollar Obverse

This coin was issued for the bicentennial of the Congress. The silver dollars were struck at the Denver Mint and carry the “D” mint mark. The design is by William Woodward and depicts the Statue of Freedom. This is one of the modern commemorative coins that tends to sell for its silver value due to the higher mintage. Nonetheless higher silver prices make this a valuable issue.
