Coin Pix

A commemorative coin program was authorized in conjunction with the XXIII Olympiad held in Los Angeles. The 1983 silver dollar represented the first commemorative coin of this denomination since 1900. The coins were issued in great quantity and helped to raise funds for the American athletes competing in the games. The obverse design is by Elizabeth Jones and inspired by the work of Myron.
